Storm 103 Riptide 95 at Eastlink Centre

The Storm defeated Saint John in the opening game of the year on Boxing Day at Eastlink Centre holding the Riptide to 35 FG% and 33 3FG%. Terry Thomas led the team in scoring with 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Gabe Freeman led Saint John with 25 points and 8 boards

Riptide 114 Storm 103 at Harbour Station

In the second game of the home and home series, the Riptide took the victory in their season opener on the strength of a 25 point 10 assist performance by Anthony Anderson. Tirrell Baines had 26 points and 7 rebounds for the Storm.

Storm 130 Riptide 121 at Eastlink Centre

The Storm maintained their home undefeated streak to 3-0 with huge contributions from their starting back court of Nick Okorie and Jahii Carson who combined for 59 points, 20 assists and 8 rebounds. The Riptide were led by Anthony Anderson who had 39 points.

Storm 115 Riptide 113 at Eastlink Centre

Thanks to a 37-point fourth quarter, the Riptide were down just two points with two seconds remaining and the ball in their hands. Johnson got the ball off the in-bound but his game-tying jumper found glass and out, giving the home side the win 115-113. Anderson finished with a game-high 30 points to go along with five rebounds and 11 assists. Johnson had 26 points while Brian Addison grabbed 18 points and 14 rebounds making his first start of the season. Gabe Freeman also had 15 points and Jabs Newby had 10. Jahii Carson lead the way for the Island with 29 points, five rebounds, and seven assists.

Storm 113 Riptide 109 at Eastlink Centre

The game started rough for the Storm but Terry Thomas put them on the board with a vicious slam before clawing their way back to trail 30-27 after one quarter. The Riptide tore their way through the start of the second quarter before the Storm fought back. Both teams faced foul trouble and Saint John led 56-54 at halftime. Thomas led a diverse attack in the third-quarter hitting two three-pointers before a vicious slam-dunk but the Riptide led 90-84 going into the final frame. Gabe Freeman led the attack for the Riptide finishing with a team-high 28-points and 17-rebounds. Jahii Carson established himself in the fourth quarter consistently making free-throws and finishing with 17-points. The Storm roared back in the final two-minutes on the back of Carson, Nick Okorie who finished with 20-points and Thomas who had a game-high 30-points. After a foul-filled end to the game, the Storm walked away with a 113-109 victory.

RIPTIDE 125 STORM 99 at Harbour Station

Gabe Freeman recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds in his first game since returning from a league imposed five game suspension. Saint John defeated the Island Storm 125-99 Thursday, winning for the second time in as many night as Harbour Station. Haakim Johnson scored 32 points and Darin Mency chipped in 25 for the 'Tide, who jumped out to a 36-15 after the first quarter and never looked back. The Storm, who dropped their third straight game, were led by Al Stewart with 19 points off 8/12 shooting and a team-high eight boards. The Riptide rode the hot three-point shooting of Johnson (5/10) and Mency (5/8), and as a team were 13/27 from downtown, while the Storm made only two of 23 attempts beyond the arc. Saint John's Brian Addison notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards as the Riptide held a slight 48-47 edge on the glass. After trailing 69-42 at half, the Storm won the third quarter 32-30, though still trailed by 25 heading into the final period. With the victory, Saint John (15-11) opens up a four-game lead over the Storm (9-13) for second spot in the Atlantic Division.

RIPTIDE 94 STORM 92 at Harbour Station

Saint John held the Storm without a field-goal over the final 5:55 and ended the game on an 11-2 run, capped off by the game-winning bucket from Gabe Freeman in the paint with just three seconds remaining. Darin Mency led all players with 28 points while Freeman had 26 points and a game-high 10 boards for the Riptide. Al Ricther and Akeem Harris were Island's top scorers, with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Other highlight performers included Saint John's Anthony Anderson (16 points to go with a team-best seven assists) and Storm guard Jahii Carson, who approached a triple-double, registering 18 points, seven rebounds and nine dimes. Saint John shot just 4/24 on three-pointers, but made up for it by out-scoring the Storm 670-28 in the paint. The Riptide also held a 62-53 edge on the glass, with 17 of their rebounds coming on the offensive end. Island was ahead much of the game, jumping out to in front 30-20 after one quarter, and continuing to lead 50-45 at halftime, and 78-75 heading into the final stanza.

STORM 104 RIPTIDE 92 at Harbour Station

The Island Storm won a big, 104-92, game in Saint John against the Riptide on Wednesday night, taking the regular season series 5-3 in what could be a potential playoff matchup. It was a back-and-forth first two quarters before coach Joe Salerno called a timeout. The Storm then finished the half on a 9-1 run before Akeem Ellis nailed a deep three-pointer to go up 54-46 at the break. The Riptide crawled back into the game after a shaky third quarter for the Storm. It looked like the game would enter the fourth quarter tied at 68 before the Storm’s Al Stewart finished off three foul shots to put his team up 71-68 going into the final quarter. The Storm never looked back and the last minute of the game was more or less a clock-killer for both teams as the game was out of reach for the Riptide. The Storm’s Rashad Whack and the Riptide’s Gabe Freeman went shot-for-shot all game, each leading their team with 23 points. Terry Thomas led the Storm in rebounds with 11 while Jahii Carson and Stewart each had six assists.
